History

SEW-Eurodrive was founded in 1931 by Ernst Blickle in Bruchsal, Germany, as a manufacturer of gear reducers for industrial drive applications. The company was a pioneer in developing standardized gear reducer sizes for simple interchangeability in industrial machines, enabling the manufacturing sector to use interchangeable drive components. In the 1950s, SEW introduced the integrated gear motor concept, combining motor and reducer in one unit.
