It may be used to depressurize the vessel in case of fire or tocheck the functionality of the valve when the process medium tends to solidify. Overpressure can also becontrolled and reduced to 2%.The connection between the actuator and the valve stem is done in such a way that a failure of the assisting mechanism does not impair the functionality of the valve.Supplementary Loaded Safety Relief Valves (SLSV)This is a standard safety valve equipped with a secondary spring and a double acting pneumatic pistoncontrolled by a redundant system.This valve may be used when the difference between set pressure and operating pressure is less than10%; in this case the leakage through the seats is greatly reduced or eliminated. Blowdown can also becontrolled and kept between 3 and 4%.20
