History

Atos was founded in 1969 in Sesto Calende, Varese (Italy) by hydraulic engineer Alberto Bertolini. The company started as a hydraulic system design bureau and quickly grew into a manufacturer of proprietary proportional valve technology. In the 1970s Atos pioneered early electronic hydraulic control valves, long before this became the industry standard. In the 1980s and 1990s Atos gained international recognition for its proportional valve systems in plastics injection moulding and machine tools. Proportional valves control pressure or flow proportionally to an electrical input signal with moderate dynamic response (bandwidth 10-50 Hz) and some hysteresis. Servo valves offer higher dynamics (100-200+ Hz), zero hysteresis, and more precise linear control, but are more expensive and require filtered oil to ISO 16/14/11. How do I parameterize an Atos E-MI electronic card? ▾
Atos E-MI digital electronics boards are parameterized via Atos AES (Atos Electronic System) software, available as a free download. Via USB or RS232 you can set P-I-D control parameters, ramps, zero point, maximum currents, and dead band. Atos provides a comprehensive parameterization manual with each E-MI product.
Are Atos valves compatible with Bosch Rexroth and Parker hydraulic circuits? ▾
Atos proportional and directional valves are manufactured to ISO 4401, ISO 5781, and CETOP mounting standards. They are therefore dimensionally interchangeable with valves from Bosch Rexroth, Parker, Eaton Vickers, and other CETOP manufacturers with the same mounting plate. Electrical connections and parameterization may differ.
What hydraulic oil is suitable for Atos valves? ▾
Atos valves are designed for use with mineral hydraulic oil ISO VG 32-68. Oil temperature may range from -20°C to +60°C. For servo valves the minimum required cleanliness is ISO 16/14/11 (3 micron absolute filtration). Avoid phosphate ester fluids unless the valve is certified for them.
How quickly do Atos DLHZO proportional valves respond? ▾
Atos DLHZO-AEB direct proportional valves have a step response from -10% to +90% in less than 15ms at nominal voltage. Bandwidth is approximately 25-35 Hz at -3dB. For faster responses the SMYTHS high-response valves are available with bandwidths up to 100 Hz.
What are the maintenance requirements for Atos hydraulic pumps? ▾
Atos hydraulic gear pumps (PFE series) require clean hydraulic oil (ISO class 18/16/13 or better), correct inlet pressure, and correct rotation speed. Gear pumps have minimal preventive maintenance needs but can suffer wear with heavily contaminated oil. Replace the hydraulic filter regularly and monitor oil level and cleanliness using an oil analysis kit.
